Excitement Is Building at Holiday Mountain Day Camp in Monticello, NY
Summer is almost here, and the entire team at Holiday Mountain Day Camp is working hard to prepare for an unforgettable season of fun, friendship, adventure, and outdoor excitement. Families throughout Sullivan County are already counting down the days until camp begins—and after our recent Open House, we can confidently say the excitement is contagious!
From facility improvements and staff training to new friendships already forming, everything is coming together for what promises to be our best summer yet.
Our May 31 Open House Was a Huge Success
On May 31st, we welcomed many excited families to Holiday Mountain Day Camp for our annual Open House.
Guests enjoyed a complimentary bagel bar while exploring the camp grounds through a self-guided tour. Families had the opportunity to visit activity areas, check out our facilities, and speak directly with staff members to get answers to their questions about camp life.
For many children, it was their first opportunity to see where they’ll be spending their summer, and their enthusiasm was impossible to miss.
Why Open Houses Matter
Open houses help children become familiar with camp before the first day, making the transition easier and helping them feel more comfortable and confident when summer arrives.
Kids Are Already Making Friends
One of the highlights of the Open House was watching campers interact with one another.
Children had the chance to play together, explore the property, and begin forming friendships that will continue throughout the summer. Parents loved seeing their kids connect with future campmates and experience the welcoming atmosphere that makes Holiday Mountain Day Camp special.
Final Construction Updates Are Underway
We are in the final stages of preparing our facilities for opening day.
One of the last major projects is completing the flooring installation in the River Lodge. New carpeting will soon be installed in this important building, which serves as our main office and a versatile indoor activity space.
The River Lodge will provide a comfortable environment for games, activities, and group gatherings, especially during occasional rainy-day schedules.
The Grass Is Growing Beautifully
If you’ve visited recently, you’ve probably noticed all the work being done to improve our grounds.
We have spread grass seed, fertilizer, and protective hay throughout the property. Our team has been consistently watering the grounds, and we’re already seeing tremendous grass growth across camp.
These improvements will help create a safer, greener, and more enjoyable environment for campers to run, play, and participate in outdoor activities all summer long.
Brand-New Basketball and Pickleball Courts Are Taking Shape
Another exciting improvement involves our athletic facilities.
Both our basketball and pickleball courts are currently being professionally sealed and painted.
New Court Features Include:
- Vibrant blue basketball courts
- Multi-colored pickleball courts featuring green, blue, and yellow playing surfaces
- Fresh sealing for improved durability and safety
- Enhanced recreational opportunities for campers of all ages
These upgraded courts will provide the perfect setting for friendly competition, skill development, and active outdoor fun throughout the summer.
Staff Training Is Already Underway

Our staff training program is currently in full swing to ensure every camper enjoys a safe, supervised, and positive experience.
Upcoming Training Includes:
- Lifeguard certification and training this weekend
