Our Winter Project

Ski Trail covered in snow with snow making.

Our family took over Holiday Mountain in the spring of 2023, just before what was set to be its final winter in operation. As a family of several generations of Holiday Mountain skiers, we couldn’t imagine letting it go. This mountain has been part of the fabric of Sullivan County since 1957-producing generations of skiers and riders and creating lifelong memories for families like ours. We knew it was too special to lose.

Right away, our team got to work revitalizing the mountain. In our first year, we upgraded snowmaking infrastructure, added new electrical and fiberoptic wiring, widened trails, reopened the long-closed double chairlift, installed new lighting, renovated the lodge and bar area, added new seating, and brought in new grooming equipment-all before the lifts started spinning.

In year two, we continued building on that momentum. We added even more snowmaking infrastructure. including miles of piping, over 100 air-water stick guns, and 23 tower fan guns. We opened two brand new trails, including Holidays first double black diamond run, and added more grooming equipment. Most notably, we replaced the original double chair with a new-to-us quad chairlift-something truly monumental for Holiday Mountain and a major step forward in improving the experience for our guests.

We have exciting plans for years three and four under new ownership, and we can’t wait to share more progress with you. One of our biggest goals is to get kids on the snow. We’re bringing back after-school programs in our local schools, growing high school alpine and nordic skiing, increasing enrollment in weekend multi-week programs, and doing everything we can to provide an unforgettable experience for the youth in our community. Getting kids outside, active, and confident on the mountain is at the heart of everything we do.
